Sweden’s scrappage premium (Skrotningspremie) is closed: the application deadline was 31 October 2025. Under SFS 2024:627, as amended by SFS 2025:296, the premium was 25,000 SEK.

Sweden's national scrappage premium scheme (Skrotningspremie) is officially closed to new applicants. When it was operational, the programme provided a one-off financial grant to motorists who decommissioned an older combustion vehicle and transitioned to an electric car. Applications closed on 31 October 2025; the ordinance itself ceased to apply later, at the end of 2025.

The scheme has closed
Sweden's Skrotningspremie programme no longer accepts applications. Under section 12 of ordinance SFS 2024:627, as amended by SFS 2025:296, all applications had to reach Boverket no later than 31 October 2025.
Because that deadline has passed, new applications cannot be submitted. Separately, the ordinance governing the programme ceased to apply at the end of 2025, subject to the transitional provisions described below. That date is distinct from the application deadline, which had already passed.
What the scheme paid
During its active operational window, the scrappage programme provided a one-off payment to eligible individuals who replaced an older combustion car with an electric vehicle. Under SFS 2024:627, as amended by SFS 2025:296, the premium was 25,000 SEK.
These figures represent historical baseline data from an ended initiative rather than an active financing opportunity.
The dates
The Swedish government established a rigid timetable for the premium. The official application window ended on 31 October 2025, which served as the statutory cutoff for applications to reach Boverket.
Under section 9 of the ordinance, an application could be made only once the motorist had purchased or leased the electric car and the scrapped vehicle was deregistered due to scrapping. Although the ordinance ceased to apply at the end of 2025, transitional provisions 2 and 3 ensure that premiums granted prior to that date remain governed by its terms.
