Sweden Elbilspremien: Price Floor and Household Income Rules Explained
2 min read
Before shopping for an electric car, see the Elbilspremien's price floor and price cap and its two household income checks.
Indicative result; the authority makes the final decision.

Sweden's Elbilspremien is an income-tested electric vehicle premium. Before you start shopping for an electric vehicle, it helps to know three things: the lower and upper limits on the car's price, the income reference, and the two income checks that the premium applies to a household.
- Vehicle Price Floor
- 64,800 SEK
- Vehicle Price Cap
- 450,000 SEK
- Income Reference Value
- 465,000 SEK (income year 2025)
- Household Income Check
- Adjusted combined household income at most 80% of the most recently established national average of adjusted taxable incomes
The car's price has a lower and an upper limit
The ordinance sets two separate limits on the car's price. The price floor, which is the lower limit, is 64,800 SEK. The price cap, which is the upper limit, is 450,000 SEK.
What the income reference is
The retained source text, retrieved on 2026-10-18, gives the income reference value as 465,000 SEK for income year 2025. It is a reference figure for the household income check; it is not an income limit that applies to every household. The first check is described in the next section.
The two income checks
There are two separate income checks. First, the adjusted combined income of the applicant's household may be at most 80% of the most recently established national average of adjusted taxable incomes. Second, there is a separate condition on state income tax that applies to the applicant and to certain other people in the household. This article does not explain how income is adjusted or who exactly the second condition covers; both are set out in the official conditions.
Where to check the rest
These figures come from the retained programme record, not from a fresh check against today's official page. The authoritative rules are the ordinance and the official conditions published by Naturvårdsverket, both listed under sources; the page linked below is the agency's own questions and answers. CivilAuto's pages on eligibility, amounts and applying are guides to those rules, not the rules themselves.
Nothing here says whether a particular household or car qualifies. For CivilAuto's guides, see Elbilspremien eligibility, subsidy amounts and how to apply.
