Who can receive the bonus
The bonus can be granted only if all conditions are met. It is granted only to private individuals, not to companies and not to a natural person buying a vehicle used in business activity.
The car you scrap
A passenger car (M1) at the time of scrapping, first registered in 2015 or earlier.
Owned or held by the applicant continuously for the 12 months immediately before scrapping, and in traffic use continuously for at least 10 months of that period.
A scrapping certificate under the Waste Act, dated 1.10.2025–31.12.2027.
The car you buy
A new, unregistered passenger car (M1) that is first registered in Finland.
Acquired by purchase; the bonus does not apply to long-term rented (leased) cars.
The buyer is a private individual and the car is for the applicant's private use.
An order contract dated 1.10.2025–31.12.2027, with the support applied for no later than 31.12.2027.
The applicant commits to keeping the car in their ownership or possession, in the Finnish traffic register or the Åland vehicle register, for at least 1 year from first registration.
The new car must be either a zero-emission electric or hydrogen car or have carbon dioxide emissions of at most 140 g/km. The bonus amount depends on the power source (see the amounts page).
Only one bonus is granted per new car and per scrapped vehicle, within the limits of the available appropriation.
The bonus is not granted to applicants on the sanctions list or to legal persons whose beneficial owner is subject to sanctions.
