How to apply for the Auto+ aid

How applications for the Spanish Auto+ aid for private individuals (Línea 1) are filed under the 2026 call: the electronic system, the documents the call order lists, and what happens after submission. The list is not presented as complete.

Before you apply

Applications for Línea 1 are filed electronically through the telematic management system (STG) of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. The applicant files with an advanced electronic signature, or through a representative appointed for the purpose who is authorised by a responsible declaration of authorisation signed by the applicant. Dealers, points of sale and financial-leasing or renting companies may act as representative. That concerns who may file for the applicant. It does not change the vehicles Línea 1 supports, which are described on the eligibility page.

The 2026 call sets the application period from 4 August 2026 at 10:00 to 31 December 2026 at 14:00 (Spanish peninsular time). Grants go to applications that meet the requirements in order of submission, until the budget available for the call is used up or, if that happens first, the call's application deadline is reached. Applications filed after the budget is used up, and before the application period ends, go on a waiting list in strict order of submission. The waiting list is served only if earlier applications are withdrawn or the call's budget increases, and it gives no right to any aid. Under the decree, the possibility of submitting applications ends definitively on the call's deadline. This page does not say whether the budget has been used up.

What the form asks for

The application form is completed electronically with the basic data on the applicant, the vehicle and the bank account that will receive the aid. The form lets the applicant give express consent for the competent body to obtain identity and vehicle-ownership data held by the public administration, and authorise the check of tax and Social Security obligations.

Documents to upload

With the form the applicant uploads the documents below. The list follows article 9.3 b) of the call order. It is not presented as a complete checklist of everything that may be asked for during processing.

  • If a representative applies: the responsible declaration of full authorisation, in the formats on the ministry's aid portal.
  • A copy of the definitive technical data sheet (ITV card) of the vehicle acquired. No other or provisional document is accepted.
  • A copy of the definitive circulation permit issued by the Dirección General de Tráfico. No other or provisional document is accepted.
  • A certificate of the bank details for the transfer of the aid. The beneficiary must hold the account, and its number must match the one in the application; otherwise a correction may be required.
  • The sales invoice of the vehicle in the beneficiary's name. The call order excepts the cases of renting and leasing from this document; this page does not treat renting or leasing as covered by Línea 1, which supports the direct acquisition of ownership. The invoice date and the discount it must show are on the eligibility page.
  • Bank documents proving the payment of the invoice. Operations of €1,000 or more in which a party acts as a business or professional may not be paid in cash. Only payment proofs that jointly and unambiguously identify the applicant, the point of sale that received the amounts, the payment date or effective outflow of the funds, the vehicle with its registration data and model, and the amount are valid.
  • If the purchase is financed wholly or in part: at least the purchase invoice, the financing contract signed by both parties, and a signed or stamped certificate of the financial entity identifying the vehicle, the amount financed, the payment date, the ordering financial entity, the point of sale receiving the payment and the borrower.
  • If the applicant does not authorise the check of tax and Social Security obligations: the certificates of the Tax Agency and of Social Security, and a responsible declaration of not being in any of the other circumstances of article 13.2 of Ley 38/2003 and of having no pending obligation to repay aid to the General State Administration and its dependent bodies.

After you submit

When the application is uploaded it is registered, the STG automatically and provisionally deducts the requested aid from the available budget, and a confirmation e-mail is sent. Obtaining the aid is conditional on the truthfulness of all data and documents, and later checks remain possible. Communications and notifications are made electronically through the STG. The applicant can withdraw the application, and the beneficiary can renounce the aid, through the STG.

The instructing body checks that the requirements are met. If the application or the documents do not meet them, the applicant is required to correct the defect or provide the mandatory documents within a non-extendable period of 10 days, failing which the applicant is deemed to have withdrawn. The uploaded documents must match the content of the corresponding boxes. A proposed resolution with the calculation of the aid is then notified, and the interested persons have ten working days to make submissions.

The Secretary of State for Industry resolves the validated applications. If the resolution is not issued and notified in time, the application may be understood as rejected by administrative silence. Grant resolutions are published on the Portal de Ayudas of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and notified to the beneficiaries. An optional appeal for reconsideration can be lodged within one month before the same body, or a direct appeal brought before the contentious-administrative courts. After the grant resolution the aid is paid by transfer to the bank account the applicant gave in the application, in the amount stated in the resolution.

Obligations after the grant

The beneficiary must keep ownership of the vehicle and its registration in Spain for at least two years from the grant, except in cases of definitive deregistration through theft, accident or irreparable damage, replacement for serious defects of origin, or the beneficiary's death. The managing body must be told of other financing that is incompatible or goes above the 80 percent threshold of the eligible cost, and of any event that transfers ownership or ends the registration of the subsidised vehicle within 2 years of the grant resolution. Failure to comply is a cause for repayment.

What this page does and does not settle

This page summarises the application procedure and documents of the call order for passenger cars (category M1), the category covered by this set of pages. Línea 1 supports the direct acquisition of ownership; the call order's exception for renting and leasing on the invoice is not read as extending the aid to those arrangements. It is not a complete checklist, and it does not say whether applications can still be submitted or what is left of the call's budget.
